Written by: Daniel Wille, Assistant Principal We are preparing for several standardized test administrations including CMAS, the SAT & PSAT 9/10, and AP exams. The unique educational environment in which we currently operate necessitates modifications to how these assessments will be administered. Due to health and safety guidelines, primarily pertaining to social distancing, technological and space limitations, we can only assess a certain number of students at a time in-person. All of these exams will be administered in-person at D’Evelyn. The below information and schedule for each assessment will help families plan and prepare for the upcoming SAT, PSAT 9/10, CMAS, and AP exams. CMAS: CMAS is the Colorado administered assessment designed to measure student achievement as it relates to state standards. This is a required assessment for students in grades 6-8, and 11. Each grade is scheduled to take the below assessments between March 22nd and April 30th: These assessments must be completed in-person at D’Evelyn on a computer. Additional information will be provided in the coming weeks for families who are not comfortable having their student/s test in-person at D’Evelyn. We can only test a certain number of students in the building at a time given social distancing and health guidelines. Therefore, when students in these grades are completing CMAS testing, all other grades will attend school remotely following our existing synchronous schedule. Below is the CMAS schedule: For example, on March 22nd 6th and 7th grade students will come to D’Evelyn and complete the CMAS-ELA assessment. All other grades on this date will attend school remotely following the synchronous class schedule. Further, on March 24th 8th graders will come to D’Evelyn to complete the CMAS-Math assessment. All other grades on this date will attend school remotely following a synchronous class schedule. Please note, for 8th and 11th graders completing the CMAS-Science assessment on April 23rd or April 30th, these will remain asynchronous Fridays. This means students in grades 8 and 11 will come to D’Evelyn to complete these assessments in-person on their respective testing days.
SAT: The SAT is a college readiness assessment administered by College Board for 11th grade students. The SAT will be on Tuesday, April 13th and must be administered in-person at D’Evelyn. All other grades will attend school remotely following a synchronous schedule. PSAT 9/10: The PSAT 9/10 is a practice exam for freshmen and sophomores helping them prepare to take the SAT as a junior. This assessment will be administered at D’Evelyn on April 16th for both freshmen and sophomores. This means freshmen and sophomores will come to the building for the exam, and all other students will follow the asynchronous Friday model currently in place. AP Exams: AP exams will be administered in-person at D’Evelyn between May 3rd-13th. To see the dates in which each AP exam will be administered, please visit College Board’s AP testing page and note the dates for “Administration 1.” There are many details about spring testing still to be determined. If you have immediate questions please contact Assistant Principal Dan Wille ([email protected]). In the meantime, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we schedule these assessments during this fluid school year.
