Written by: Ashley Jetton, RN, BSN District Registered Nurse Hello D’Evelyn Jaguars, from your school nurse! I wanted to give a quick reminder for those parents of students on the hybrid schedule, so that you and your student are prepared for in-person learning. Each person who enters the building will be required to wear a mask. Masks must fit well and have no holes in them. Jeffco is not allowing bandanas (Figure 1) and/or the masks with the big circle filter in them. Gators are acceptable at this point, but that is subject to change, so I would avoid buying any. Masks must also completely cover the mouth and nose. In addition to wearing a mask to school, everyone will also be screened upon entry. They will have their temperature taken and asked if they have a cough, sore throat, or runny nose. IF THEY HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS, THEY HAVE TO GO BACK HOME. It would help all of us if you can briefly screen your student before they leave each day. If your student has allergies, be sure they have taken allergy medicine because we have no way of knowing if their symptoms are from allergies or Covid, and they will be sent home. This school year looks a lot different than any other year. With your help and support, in addition to the many mitigation strategies Jeffco has put in place, we look forward to a successful return to in person learning. Written by: Josh Griffin, Principal
Here is the 2020-2021 regional school bus route for D'Evelyn students that will be mobilized beginning September 8, 2020: Written by: Josh Griffin, Principal Welcome to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. With the start of the new school year on Monday, August 24th, we recognize students, teachers, and families are making big adjustments to our typical standard operating procedures. Thank you in advance for your engagement and thoughtfulness as we embark on a year of remote and hybrid learning. In order to support students and families, we have organized this table to facilitate the access of information from teachers. Using your student’s schedule, please find each of your student’s teachers in the table below and take the time to read their Welcome Letter and review their website. By reviewing parents' letters and teacher websites, students should be prepared to utilize each teacher’s Google Classroom and Google Meet for remote learning by 7:30 am Monday, August 24th. We appreciate the support of parents in working with their child(ren) to review these resources. If you don’t know your student’s schedule, please use Parent/Student Portal to access it. Faculty/Staff Webpage Directory Some additional useful resources to keep in mind, and possibly bookmark, to help you support your student during the 2020-2021 school year.
D’Evelyn Counseling Center Parent and Student Portal on Infinite Campus Jeffco’s Virtual Calming Room Jeffco’s Covid-19 Mental Health Supports Jeffco’s Support for Devices Written by: Josh Griffin, Principal On Fridays, students will engage in asynchronous remote learning. Teachers are responsible for creating a check-in process by which they can take attendance for Friday asynchronous learning. We will begin asynchronous, remote learning on Friday 8/28. The purpose of Friday time for students:
Office Hours are scheduled throughout the day Friday by subject area, so we can ensure students are able to connect with their teachers as needed. This schedule was built with the idea that students may need to touch base with 1 or 2 teachers per Friday. Office Hours are not required, and given the aforementioned goals for Friday asynchronous learning, we do not envision that students will spend most of their days in Office Hours on Fridays. In the event that your student is struggling and feels that they need to meet with teachers more extensively on Fridays, please connect with your student’s counselor to come up with a plan that provides additional support. 6th Grade Office Hours 8 - 9 AM Math 9 - 10 AM Math Testing Make-Up 10 - 11 AM Reading & Writing Grades 7 - 12 Office Hours Updated August 21st at 8:00 AM 8 - 9 AM Math 9 - 10 AM Foreign Language 10 - 11 AM History 11 - Noon Counseling 11 - Noon Electives Noon - 1 PM English 1 - 2 PM Science 2 - 3 PM Counseling Office Hours will be accessed using Google Meeting links. Students will be able to access links to Office Hours via their teachers’ “7th Hour / Office Hours” Google Classrooms. Math & Foreign Language Departments plan to assess 100% remote students during set times on Fridays. FL Assessment Time for 100% remote students 8 - 9 AM Math Assessment Time for 100% remote students 9 - 10 AM We are confident that the “Friday Plan” set forth will support D’Evelyn students by allowing them to continue learning, seek individual and small group support from teachers, and complete make-up work/assessments as needed. If you have questions specific to how Office Hours will work for your student’s teachers, please refer to the teacher websites and/or Google Classroom. If you have further questions, please directly contact teachers to ensure you understand expectations for Office Hours. Written by: Josh Griffin, Principal Update for students/families new to Jeffco Schools This update is directed particularly to the families of students new to D’Evelyn that did not attend a Jeffco Public School last year, in particular, students that attended charter schools, private schools, schools in other districts, or home school. On Monday, August 24th, all D’Evelyn students will log into their classes for the first time. In order to do this, each student needs to have an active Jeffco Schools Google account, so that they can access our school/district G Suite. To log into Google for the first time in the Jeffco domain, students will use their Student ID# for the user name, and their eight digit birthday for the password. My birthday is September 14, 1981, so my new password would be 09141981. We encourage all students to change their password as soon as they are comfortable. This login information will support students tremendously, in particular this year, as we are placing a heavy emphasis on the use of Google Classroom and the associated G-Suite platforms. If you have questions, please call our Main Office at 303-982-2600. |
