By Beverly Haynie, Assistant Principal
D’Evelyn Junior Senior High School has been randomly selected as one of the schools that has the opportunity to take the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) this year. This is a survey that collects information from Colorado youth every two years about health-related attitudes and behaviors. Being selected to participate in this survey provides a unique opportunity for us to better understand the strengths and needs of our D’Evelyn community. The data provided from the HKCS can help us understand current trends here at D’Evelyn and throughout Colorado. It provides us with an opportunity to enhance programming to grow health and well-being for our youth. Students can take the survey with confidence that their answers are completely anonymous. Data will look at overall trends. Names and other identifying information will not be asked for on this survey, and results will be completely anonymous. The information we learn from this survey can shape our programs targeting our school community and the health and well-being of our students. For the information to be reflective of all students, we would like all students to take the survey. Please help us get there by providing approval for your student to take the HKCS. This survey will be administered here at D’Evelyn during 7th hour on the 6th and 7th of November. There are different surveys for junior high and high school students, which will be administered separately (high school students will take the survey during 7th hour on 11/6 and junior high students will take the survey during 7th hour on 11/7). Only students with signed permission will be able to take the survey, so we ask that you take a moment to provide permission. Please click on the following link to provide permission electronically https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdyVqfBRF9DzrI9MUlcl0-UUb1te0jevRDqPJeTRqxXQ4Xy4w/viewform or fill out a permission form in the main office by Thursday, November 2nd. Remember that the results will be anonymous, and can benefit your child, the school, and the community. If you have any questions about the survey or your child’s participation, please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s webpage about the HKCS at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/hkcs.
