10 Strategies for Parents with Athletes-written by John Evers-Indiana High School Athletic Director 1) Enjoy the ride and don’t stress over the scoreboard. 2) Look at the big picture and help your athlete do the same. 3) Allow your athlete to guide his or her own path. 4) Provide emotional support for your athlete. 5) You don’t have to cheer or coach, just be there. 6) Praise more, critique less. 7) Remember: your athlete is an individual, so are his or her teammates. 8) Don’t let the family suffer in the name of athletics. 9) Be supportive of others on your team (parents and athletes). 10) Be supportive of those that serve your child (coaches, officials, etc.). Boys Tennis finished off a solid season with a 6-5 record this year. We had two players qualify for the state tournament this year (Justin Allen and Dominic Cushnie) at the #2 Doubles level. They played a tough opening round match against the eventual third place finisher, Cheyenne Mountain. With 8 of 11 varsity players returning, we are hoping for even more success next year! |
