Each month coaches can nominate athletes for Student Athlete of the Month. To be selected for this prestigious award, athletes must be academically eligible every week and make significant contributions to their teams, in the eyes of their coaches.
Mikayla Oligney has lettered all four years on the softball team. Her senior year has been her best as she was voted 1st team all-conference for her outstanding plays at first base and clutch hitting. Mikayla had a .419 batting average which was 3rd highest on the team. Mikayla not only played well but was a dedicated player on and off the field. She was committed to her teammates and committed in the classroom every day. Mikayla is taking three AP classes and carries a 3.7 GAP and is going to further her educational commitment at School of Mines. Congratulation Mikayla for your accomplishments and what a pleasure it has been coaching you. You are a wonderful person.

Lucas Jordan is the epitome of what it means to be a student athlete. He carries a 4.11 GPA and is currently taking 3 AP classes. He knows that "student" definitely comes first. However, he certainly does not let his studies hinder his athletic accomplishments. From his commitment to summer running to his dedication at each practice, Lucas demonstrates the value of hard work to his teammates. Although Lucas has been a team leader for each of his 4 years in cross-country, this season he reached a new level. He had an outstanding season which included a 2nd place finish at league and a 3rd place in the regional championships. In addition, he now stands as the 4th best runner in the history of our tradition laden program.
