The D’Evelyn Service Corps is an amazing way to help the community through real service and to meet great people while you’re at it. Every month, Coach McKellips arranges for a group of Juniors and Seniors to participate in service activities with various organizations. Through the Salvation Army, we had the chance to prepare and serve meals directly to their residents. At the Ronald McDonald House, we were able to meet several different families who had just recently met one another come together to share breakfast while we helped clean their facilities. At Hands Automotive, we got to actually perform basic car maintenance for single mothers, with no prior experience necessary.
The experience of meeting and helping others through the Corps has been indescribable. With a new project every month, it’s likely that everyone can find something that suits them through the D’Evelyn Service Corps. There’s no official membership or formal meetings; any junior or senior with an interest in service should see Coach McKellips. Every month, you’ll see a couple of regulars and plenty of new faces, making it a great way to forge new friendships while serving the community. Written by - Iulia Sava Comments are closed.
