D’Evelyn students will begin a period of standardized testing almost immediately upon returning from Spring Break. As in previous years, there have been changes made to the standardized testing program by the Colorado Department of Education, and those changes will impact D’Evelyn students and our testing calendar.
An overview of testing by grade level for the 2017-2018 school year:
Since the introduction of the Common Core curriculum several years ago, the D’Evelyn curriculum, as outlined by the Founding Document, has been steady and has not changed because of shifts in national, state, or local curricular guidelines. As a school community, we believe that the value of the liberal arts education offered at D’Evelyn, and specifically outlined in the D’Evelyn Founding Document, has a multitude of benefits, primary among them that D’Evelyn graduates will be knowledgeable, thoughtful, and engaged community members leading happy and fulfilled lives after high school. As a result, we do not, and will not, adjust our curricular expectations to coordinate with curricular directives from outside of the school. Nonetheless, we believe that D’Evelyn students will find success on the various standardized tests that are presented to them over their six-year tenure in the school, especially when students submit their best effort on those tests. Additionally, the CMAS, PSAT, and SAT performances by D’Evelyn students will ultimately contribute to school wide measurement of performance through the Colorado School Performance Framework. As a result, it is the sincere hope of the D’Evelyn faculty, staff, and administration that students will engage in their upcoming testing with the wholehearted effort that we have come to know and respect of our student community. We appreciate the support of parents in encouraging their student(s) to perform their best on these tests. The D’Evelyn Testing Schedule - Spring 2018
Please note that the D’Evelyn administration, faculty, and staff have gone to great lengths to ensure that the forthcoming testing schedule minimally impacts the instructional time for all students. During the assigned testing times, students will not be missing instruction of new material. If you have questions or wish to learn more about the standardized testing at D’Evelyn, please contact Greg Kottcamp at [email protected] or 303-982-4979. Thank you for your continued support of your students and D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School. (*) The April 10th testing day for grades 7 - 11 will follow a modified schedule. We will provide further details on the schedule in the coming days. 12th grade students do not have school on April 10th. Comments are closed.
