According to its Mission Statement, the D’Evelyn Education Foundation (DEF) serves to “provide the financial support necessary to maintain D’Evelyn academic, athletic, performing arts, and scholarship programs.” The DEF Board of Directors annually raises and allocates approximately $80,000 to support a variety of student curricular and extracurricular needs. The Board benefits from the faithful service of dozens of parent volunteers, including those that organize and manage annual fundraisers as well as those responsible for planning various extracurricular events to support students. One primary fundraising event for DEF is the Annual Auction, which is just around the corner - Friday, November 10th at the Sheraton Denver West beginning at 6:00 PM. For more information on sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales, please visit the official D’Evelyn Auction website. Tickets remain available for $50 through October 31st, and may be purchased online here. Many D’Evelyn parent volunteers have worked for the past months to ensure not only that the event is fun and exciting, but also that there will be many great auction items for attendees to consider, all while supporting the school with their financial contributions. In addition to serving as a primary annual fundraiser for DEF, the Auction is a great opportunity for D’Evelyn community members to come together to socialize in a relaxing environment. Further, it is one of only a few opportunities structured in the school year for D’Evelyn parents to share the company of many faculty and staff members. The evening will be highlighted by Randy Chavez and Frank Py, two D’Evelyn parents, playing live music, as well as D’Evelyn parent and 9News reporter Nelson Garcia serving as the emcee for the evening’s festivities. All-in-all, this should be a wonderful event where our community members can come together to support our great school. I hope to see many parents, family members, faculty, and staff members present at the Auction as we work together to support all D’Evelyn students inside and outside the classroom.
