First Week of School The first week of school was marked by many successes and some great news to share with the community. Orientation day went very well with almost 200 new 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade students attending and becoming familiar with the D’Evelyn way and meeting teachers, and making new friends. The first day of school went off without a hitch and the best thing about this day was the opening of our new 6th-grade wing. As a result of the efforts of the Jeffco Construction Department and the general contractor (HCI) all inspections and final details for occupancy were cleared. I especially commend the teachers in the new wing (Mr. Davis, Ms. Civian, Ms. Ericson, Ms. Goldsborough, Ms. Bowman, Mr. Anneberg, and Mr. Porreco) for their commitment to working a long day on Friday and throughout the weekend setting up classrooms and being ready for their students on the first day of school. The week was full of excitement and energy as students became more familiar with their schedules, meeting teachers, and settling into the routine of school. A good start for both students and faculty is critical to our success and I urge us to capitalize on this momentum and transfer it to the important at home and outside of school study routines that students develop in the coming weeks. I am certain the learning pace and homework will increase in the coming weeks, and a good start and at home study routine will be a valuable asset to student success. In addition to celebrating a great start, the Colorado Department of Education released Spring 2022 assessment data including SAT results for all schools participating in the state assessment program. I am pleased to announce, once again, that D’Evelyn is the highest performing school for all participating schools and for all public schools in the state of Colorado for the SAT. Over the next several weeks, I will be conducting assessment performance briefings with our stakeholders and will provide a more comprehensive presentation of this information. Back to School Night Back to School Night is an important opportunity for parents and guardians of D’Evelyn students to meet teachers, learn more about the curriculum, and understand specific expectations for individual classes. We encourage attendance at this important start-of-year event. Due to classroom size and seating, Back to School Night is limited to the attendance of parents and guardians . Additionally, be sure to have a copy or access to your student’s class schedule, which you can access through Infinite Campus. Back to School Night is Thursday, August 25th, and begins at 6:00 PM with an address from the Principal in the Main Gymnasium. After the Principal’s Address at 6:00 pm, we will dismiss parents to follow their student’s class schedule on an abbreviated rotation. Parents will have a chance to visit each class in our 6-period bell schedule and learn more about the class from the teacher. The bell schedule runs from 6:30 - 8 pm. During this time with teachers, many topics will be presented, including but not limited to:
This is also a good time to make a quick personal introduction to your student’s teachers. New Parent and Guardian Meet and Greet In addition to the above Back to School Night program, the D’Evelyn Administration will host a parent meeting for families new to D’Evelyn (grades 6 - 9) also on August 25th in the Auditorium at 5:30 pm. We will have a brief presentation for new parents, as well as opportunities for parents to ask questions and learn more about the D’Evelyn experience now that we have completed the first week of school. Parents new to D’Evelyn are encouraged to attend this meeting to continue learning more about D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School. Thank you for your continued support of D’Evelyn. We look forward to welcoming our parents/guardians for Back to School Night on August 25th.
Parents, your students will not be allowed entry into the school until 6:30 am. Please do not drop your students off before 6:30 am. Thank you for your cooperation.

Special congratulations to Junior golfer, Taj Kumar who tied for first place overall in 4a with a 74. This was a great early-season tournament performance to build off his State Tournament appearance from last season. The Boys Golf Team has two tournaments this week, one on Tuesday and the other on Thursday. Good luck boys!
