Let's Go Jags!
By:  Josh Shapiro, Principal

"I’m very excited to announce that I just received word that D'Evelyn is one of the recipients of the 2022 Colorado John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award (The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. These schools received an Exceeds Expectations rating on the Academic Achievement indicator of the School Performance Frameworks reflecting exceptional performance in Math, English Language Arts, and Science). The Irwin Award is in addition to D’Evelyn being ranked #1 in Colorado High Schools by The U.S. News., and having the #1 Highest Average SAT Score-1284 in the state of Colorado. We are going to celebrate these incredible achievements next month. More to come on that later. Go Jags!"

D’Evelyn Honor Roll & Academic Lettering
By: Greg Kottcamp, Assistant Principal

Honor Roll & Academic Lettering are two important ways that students are recognized for their academic achievements at D’Evelyn.
Honor Roll
The Honor Roll is broken into four categories and is based on the grades from spring semester of the 2022-2023 school year: (weighted grade point averages are used in these calculations)
Platinum - Students earned a 4.0 or higher
Gold - Students with G.P.A.s of  3.75 - 3.99
Silver - Students with G.P.A.s of 3.5 - 3.74
Bronze - Students with G.P.A.s of 3.0 - 3.49

If your child’s name is missing, on the wrong list, misspelled, or you have any questions about the Honor Roll, please email me at [email protected]. Parents of Honor Roll students should visit the main office to pick-up their “D’Evelyn #Honor Roll Student” bumper sticker.

Academic Lettering
The high school students that earned at least a 3.75 G.P.A. for both semesters of the 2022-2023, will be awarded an Academic Letter. The first year a student earns this award they are given a certificate, chenille “D” Letter for D’Evelyn, and an academic pin. Every year after they are given a certificate and a bar pin. This year our Academic Lettering ceremony will be on the morning of September 19 at 7:30am in the auditorium. The students that earned an Academic Letter during the 2022-2023 school year can be seen at the following link:
D’Evelyn’s Academic Lettering Students or 2022-2023

If your child’s name is missing, misspelled, or you have any questions about Academic Lettering please email me at [email protected].

Congratulations to all students that earned an Honor Roll and/or Academic Letter. Your work ethic and dedication to your studies are applauded by our community.

Yearbook Announcements

2022-2023 Awards

A huge congratulations to the 22-23 Yearbook Staff! The “Own it” yearbook earned the Award of Commendation from the Colorado Student Media Association. The categories in which the yearbook was evaluated included: theme development/structure, coverage, reporting, photography, and design. D’Evelyn earned the Award of Commendation in all areas, except in coverage where they earned the All-Colorado Award!

Some of the judge’s comments included:

  • “Bravo! I can see you reached out to find all sorts of activities that happened throughout the year and made a great space for the junior high students. That’s a lot of coverage and you showed great care for ALL students and their stories.”
  • “Your templates are extremely pleasing to the eye due to their structure and playfulness.”
  • “Your photos show a thoughtful approach to the emotional intensity of movement, from senior sunrise and all throughout your sports section. It takes time and patience in a space to cultivate that same skill in academic and classroom settings.”
  • “You have so much of which to be proud…you have a command of the complicated, intricate, painstaking task of telling the story of the year in an expert publication.”

Way to go 2022-2023 Yearbook Staff!

Athlete of the Month - August
By:  Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director

Congratulations to the Athlete of the Month winner for the month of August. The winner was chosen by their coaches based on their leadership qualities, work ethic, and other traits that represent what D’Evelyn wants to see in all of their Student-Athletes. He was chosen out of all the Student-Athletes at D’Evelyn.
Graham Truesdel - 12th Grade
“Graham has been playing Varsity golf since his freshman year. We realize the challenge of being a high school athlete and what it takes to balance academics and athletics, let alone doing that while being a senior on the golf and football team during the same season. His commitment and athletic abilities were demonstrated by his participation in the last two tournaments where he shot in the 70's, which were personal best scores. This helped our team narrowly prevail over other schools in back-to-back 4th place finishes in these Jeffco 4A League tournaments. Congratulations Graham for your outstanding commitment to D'Evelyn athletics, as well as your team leadership and the example you set—they are important and appreciated.”
-Coach Helfner and Coach Boswell, Head Boys Golf Coaches
Scholars of the Month - August
By:  Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director

Congratulations to the Scholar of the Month winners for the month of August. They were chosen by the Science Department at the end of last school year.
Darsh Bhandari - 8th grade
Darsh comes into Science everyday ready to learn. His work ethic and participation is outstanding and he is a great role model to his peers.
-Mrs. Newcomb, Life Science Teacher
Madilyn Schrade, 8th grade
Madilyn is a student that Mrs. Newcomb can count on to participate with every single question. That's not an exaggeration. She works hard on all of her assignments and is a great leader in the classroom.
-Mrs. Newcomb, Life Science Teacher
Evelyn Oltmans, 12th grade
Evelyn is an exceptionally hard worker who gives 100% to every lesson and assignment. She comes in regularly outside of class to clarify material and she studies it until she truly masters it. Evelyn makes it clear that she is not simply striving for good grades; rather, she is striving for understanding. Evelyn will do very well in any future Science coursework but, more importantly, she is a positive leader and role model at D’Evelyn in and outside of the classroom.
-Coach McKellips (Physics) & Mr. Ray (AP Biology)
Robert Lane III, 11th grade
RJ has done an outstanding job in chemistry this year! He is always focused during class and ready to learn, and he works very hard both in and outside of class to complete his assignments and truly understand the concepts. His mind is always going, so he notices little details that most students miss. He asks great questions and challenges his classmates to learn and understand the material at a deeper level.  Great work this year, RJ!
-Mrs. McGee, Chemistry Teacher
