Congratulations to the Athlete of the Month winners for the month of September. These winners were chosen by their coaches based on their leadership qualities, work ethic, and other traits that represent what D’Evelyn wants to see in all of their Student-Athletes. They were chosen out of all the Student-Athletes at D’Evelyn.
Jett Cowee: 11th Grade
“The September Athlete of the month is Jett Cowee. As an upperclassman, Jett knew that he would be counted on to provide leadership to the team this season. He worked hard during the summer and came into the season ready to go. He leads by example as his hard work has helped him become the team leader in each of our meets throughout the first half of the season. A true D’Evelyn student-athlete, Jett is a member of Student Council and currently carries a 4.0 GPA. Congratulations Jett!” -Coach Bell, Head Cross Country Coach
Jayden Miller: 12th Grade
“A student-athlete is someone who is incredibly hard-working, self-motivated, and disciplined; they are poised under stress and resilient while balancing school, athletics, and social demands. This month’s student-athlete for XC is Jayden Miller. She shows her dedication to both academics and athletics with her rigorous academic schedule, including 4 AP classes. Jayden has learned how taking care of yourself and believing in yourself translates to success. She put in an incredible amount of work in the summer to start the season in shape after sustaining multiple injuries. Jayden has led the girl's team as our top runner all season while encouraging her teammates to do their best. Congratulations Jayden!” -Coach Bell, Head Cross Country Coach

Help with College Applications Counselors are here to help! We can provide guidance on when to apply and where, give assistance with the common app, discuss whether to go test-optional, and support students with the essay. Please have students set up an appointment and we can help them work through the college application process and give advice along the way. We encourage students to attend our college visits and meet Admissions Representatives in person. We also have the Common Applications workshops and Scholarship workshops to help support students. Parents, please be cautious about helping students do their applications. There is a fine line between helping and doing the application. Colleges want to hear from students about their essays and the different components of the application. Be aware that they can usually tell when a parent has done all or part of the application or the essay. We know it’s busy and you’re trying to help your student, and we want you to know we can support and encourage them on our end as well. Just have them stop and set up an appointment with us. Essay/Editing Help for Scholarship and College Applications Emily Smith (a recent D'Evelyn graduate) has a freelance editing business, "Wordsmith Services." Emily has experience with the application process for both scholarships and colleges. For a nominal fee of $2 a page (generally) and quick turnaround times, she can help provide you with editing, proofreading, and clear communication. Email Emily at [email protected]. Scholarships
