Hello, Jaguar families and friends. Wow, the start of the semester and the month of January went incredibly quick and here we are in the month of February. At this point in the school year, the activities and pace of planning for the next school year moves into overdrive. As we plan for next year, a critical component of this is to gather data and information from our stakeholder groups. We do this in several ways and in a variety of venues. Please take this opportunity to provide feedback and input as we plan for next year and with the mindset to keep D’Evelyn a great school. Each year, the D’Evelyn Accountability Committee administers surveys to students, and every other year, D’Evelyn administers the district Make Your Voice Heard Survey. During the upcoming weeks, we will be asking D’Evelyn students and families to complete surveys about their experiences in our school. More information and links to surveys can be found later in the School Surveys article in this newsletter. 9th graders planning to take AP Chem next year must take the pretest being offered on Tues, February 7th, and Wed, February 8th. Students need to sign up the day before the test on the bulletin board outside of W100. Contact Mrs. McGee with any questions.

The D'Evelyn Senior High Student Council is thrilled to launch Wish Week by introducing our school's Wish Kid, Luka! Luka is a five-year-old boy fighting cancer and his wish is to travel to Hawaii to learn to surf on a red surfboard. During Wish Week, from February 6-10, the entire D'Evelyn community is striving to raise $15,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado. During the week, students can purchase Wish Week t-shirts for $15, t-shirt and accessory packs for $25, and raffle tickets for $1, both before school and during lunch. Thanks to the dedication of our Student Council members and the support of our sponsors, the raffle has an array of prizes worth over $2,000. Additionally, students can participate in spirit week dress-up days, 7th-hour activities, and daily food night fundraisers. All funds raised during the week will be donated to Make-A-Wish Colorado. A full list of events can be found in the Upcoming Activities and Events section of the newsletter. To directly contribute to the fundraising campaign for Luka, you can make an online donation using this link.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Thursday, February 16th from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in the Main Gym. We are excited to welcome families and students to have productive and meaningful conversations with teachers. The purpose of the Parent-Teacher Conferences is to allow parents and students the opportunity to connect individually. There are a variety of opportunities presented in these conferences, including but not limited to:
We hope that you and your student(s) will capitalize on this valuable opportunity to meet with teachers. Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur in the Main Gym in an arena format. There are no appointments or set schedules for meetings; rather, parents and students will have an opportunity to meet with teachers on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the evening. In order to allow all families an opportunity to meet with teachers, we ask that conferences are kept to a maximum of five minutes per teacher. In the event that you need more than five minutes of meeting time with the teacher, please set up an appointment for a future date and time. Counselors and administrators will be available during conferences to meet with parents and students. Thank you in advance for attending. The invitation letter also includes a code to join the NHS Applicant Google Classroom, where they can submit the necessary documents and application. An optional interest meeting with Mrs. Bender will be held on Friday, Feb 17th for students who have questions. The deadline to apply for NHS is on March 3rd at 11:59 PM and late applications will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please email Megan Seasely Bender for more information.

Every year D’Evelyn and Jeffco Public Schools distribute surveys to families, students, and faculty in order to gather important data. This data enables the school and district to reflect on current practices, plan improvements, and implement adjustments to make continual growth for our community.
