One notable component of our school function in April will be frequent standardized testing. This is the month that we complete our CMAS and SAT/PSAT testing. You will soon receive grade-level-specific Messenger communication later this week about our unique schedule and plans for testing. I would like to recognize D'Evelyn Assistant Principal Dan Wille for his efforts to design an efficient testing schedule that minimizes the negative impact on instructional time in a manner that will best support our students. Additionally, the implementation of the schedule could not happen without the assistance of Greg Kottcamp, Jon Watson, and Joel Jacobsen who are overseeing the actual testing in Mr. Wille's absence. We are grateful for the level of support offered by D'Evelyn community members when standardized testing occurs. While we make no adjustments to our curriculum or instructional plan to sway with changing expectations in state-mandated tests, we do believe that the liberal arts education offered to our students supports their ability to be successful on these upcoming tests. We ask for your partnership in encouraging your child to submit their best efforts during our testing season to demonstrate their learning and academic growth over the course of this school year. The test that students are taking is dependent upon grade level:
Some Reminders Please have students leave their cell phones, smart watches, or anything that can send or receive a transmission at home, in their car, or in their locker. If a cell phone rings during the testing, the student's exam will be collected and they will not be able to complete the test. Additionally, other students' test scores may be invalidated so it is important to not bring cell phones to the testing area. Juniors taking the SAT without the writing section will be free to quietly exit the building and go home after the testing session is complete. We appreciate your support and flexibility for these required state assessments. Please join us in extending best wishes to your student(s) for a successful testing season. We look forward to seeing the results of the great work by D'Evelyn students. The calendar dates for each of the tests for each grade level are below.
Again, thank you for all your support, and look for a more detailed communication later this week with specific start and dismissal times and other information specific to your student's grade level assessments.
If you have questions or need any clarification on the logistics, please feel free to contact the D'Evelyn Main Office at 303-982-2600.

Congratulations to the Scholar of the Month winners for the month of March. They were chosen by the World Language Department. Jonathan Baker - 8th grade Jonathan Baker is an amazing young man. The first hour is not easy on anyone but Jonathan is always ready to do what it takes to learn and be successful. He always comes with his book, notebook, and pen, and even with a smile. Even when it's hard Jonathan is not afraid to participate. He is an example to our class and I'm proud of him. -Mr. Sabre, French Teacher
Emery Nguyen - 8th grade
Emery is a fantastic student. She loves to think, and she's always happy to share what she's thinking, whether with the whole class or with teammates in collaborative work. She has very high expectations of herself and asks excellent questions that make clear her deep and nuanced understanding of tough concepts. Emery's drive to succeed and excel is impressive. Perhaps more importantly, it never gets in the way of her ability to enjoy herself and to be a good classmate and friend. She comes to class each day with a smile and an open mind, ready to tackle with enthusiasm whatever is thrown at her. -Ms. Bowman, Latin Teacher
Yanjin Lin - 9th grade
Yanjin's dedication to academic excellence is truly remarkable. I've never had a student show more commitment toward accuracy in learning the Spanish language than Yanjin does. She reaches out to me regularly to ask for clarification on homework and written assessments outside of school, and this level of effort amazes me. She is a kind and respectful person, and I can count on her to be on-task and engaged during class. I'm grateful for her hard work and determination to succeed. -Ms. Mozingo, Spanish Teacher
Carson Stephens - 9th grade
Carson Stephens is a fantastic Spanish 2 student who always gives his best. His calm and steady nature helps him excel and tackle difficult concepts in grammar. I thoroughly enjoy having him in class and appreciate his respectful and hardworking demeanor. Keep up the good work! -Mrs. Bender, Spanish Teacher

Jett Cowee - 11th grade Jett has such a positive attitude and is a great contributor in US History class. He always responds kindly to his peers and staff members. Jett also works hard outside of school, working in the winter and running track and cross country almost year around. Myla Seda & Aubrey Hummel-Giddens - 7th Grade
