John Fielder is visiting D'Evelyn Thursday, March 8th to present his all-new slide show A Colorado Winter, derived from the new book of the same title. John will share stories of life on the winter trail, often on route to remote cabins in Colorado’s diverse winter hut network while showing over 200 of John’s most sublime winter photographs. Following John's presentation, we will enjoy a community dessert social and book sale. John will autograph any purchases AND he is donating thirty percent of book profits from the evening to D'Evelyn Education Foundation! By Jenna Spendlove On December 18th in the D’Evelyn Gymnasium, Dennison Elementary celebrated their 2017 National Blue Ribbon Award. Many of our students here at D’Evelyn came through Dennison Elementary, and their hard work and dedication were a big part of Dennison earning this award. Congratulations to all who had a part in this wonderful achievement! It was a fun evening with an incredible program of special guests including a representative from Congressman Ed Perlmutter’s office, Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul, Jefferson County School Board Member Amanda Stevens, and Jefferson County School District Superintendent Dr. Jason Glass. Dennison Principal Pam Yoder and former Principals Maureen Curtiss and Kathy Krieger were recognized and commended. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Every year the U. S. Department of Education seeks out and celebrates great American schools, schools demonstrating that all students can achieve to high levels. More than 8,500 schools across the country have been presented with this coveted award. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning. A school is permitted to apply for this award every 7 years. Dennison has won the National Blue Ribbon Award three times being 2003, 2010, and 2017. They are the only school in Colorado to have received this award more than twice. |
