By: Kim McSwain The application window is now open for 26 scholarships worth $27,750 which will be awarded through the D’Evelyn Education Foundation to seniors in the D’Evelyn Class of 2022. In addition there are 4 awards in the amount of $6,500. Both scholarships and awards total $34,250 a record amount for D’Evelyn! We are pleased to announce that two new scholarships have been added this year: 1) The “Excellence in Classics Scholarship” has been funded by Pierre Habel, D’Evelyn’s esteemed, now-retired, Latin teacher. A D’Evelyn senior who has demonstrated excellence in Latin and committed to complete a major or minor in Latin, Greek, Classics or related fields will be awarded this $3,000 initial award, which is renewable at $1,500 per year for 3 subsequent years. 2) A senior who has excelled in Visual Arts will be eligible for the new $1,000 “Excellence in Visual Arts Scholarship” which will honor a student gifted in painting, sculpture, drawing, watercolor, graphics, glass art, jewelry, photography and/or architecture. All application information for these scholarships may be found in this Scholarships & Awards document. The Scholarships Synopsis provides requirements and eligibility details for each scholarship. The deadline for all DEF scholarships is the Wednesday after Spring Break, March 30, 2022. By: Jenna Spendlove, Executive Director / Auction Chair The 2021 D'Evelyn Education Foundation's Annual Dinner and Auction was a HUGE success! In addition to the generosity of our Sponsors, our donors to the auction portion of the event were incredibly charitable and we would like to highlight those businesses. This year's silent auction raised more funds than any previous DEF silent auction and it is because of our giving contributors as well as those who participated. Please give back to those who give so freely to support D'Evelyn by frequenting their businesses! |
