JCPL is rockin' the books this summer with a goal of reading 40 million minutes, and we would love our students to participate! Pre-registration is available now online! D’Evelyn students can compete to win $800 for our school, thanks to support from the Jefferson County Library Foundation! Awards will be given to schools in five categories with the highest percentage of finishers. Sorry parents and teachers - this one’s for the students. Only summer readers between the ages of four and 18 can participate, but you can cheer them on! Learning to play an instrument can have a profound, positive impact on a young person, teaching valuable life skills and boosting confidence and self-esteem. And that unused instrument you have at home in your basement can help make it happen. Our growing instrumental music program has put us in desperate need of band and orchestra instruments for our instrumental music department. From now until May 22nd, we will be collecting donations of gently-used band and orchestra instruments that will be repaired for students at our school. The program is particularly in need of Cellos, Double Basses, and Alto Saxophones, but all instruments are welcome. Even if you don't have an instrument, you can help by contributing a monetary donation. $150 is all it takes to repair a donated instrument and put it in the hands of a student. Drop off your instrument or any size donation (payable to DEF) to the band room or main office, or call Mrs. Chavez at 303-982-2600 to arrange for it to be picked up. Thank you for helping keep music alive! “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.” Ludwig Van Beethoven. |
