D'Evelyn Senior High Student Council The students of D'Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School have joined together to host a Wish Week to raise money for Make-A-Wish® Colorado and help grant wishes to Colorado children with life-threatening medical conditions. We would like to invite you to join us and help grant wishes for kids like Luke and his wish to travel on a Disney Cruise. The impact of a wish is huge! Make-A-Wish has the unique ability to transform a child and a family's life during some of their most difficult trials. A wish creates an opportunity for hope and the ability to experience life beyond illness. A wish is not simply a wish. Wishes are amazing experiences, but more than that, they have the power to change lives. Help us change the lives of these deserving kids. There are lots of ways you can get involved! Our Wish Week will be held on Monday 9/25 through Saturday 9/30 and we invite you to participate in our events throughout the week. Below is a list of Wish Week events, including restaurant nights. Please share this information with your friends and family and encourage them to attend.

Let's show our terrific D'Evelyn Staff our support and gratitude by providing them with delicious meals before conferences! Conferences will be held on Wednesday October 4th from 5:00 - 7:30pm and Thursday October 5th from 3:00-5:30pm. By Monte Murphy D'Evelyn High School Proudly Presents: "Is He Dead?" A new comedy by Mark Twain (yes, THAT Mark Twain!) Oct 5, 6, and 7 at 7:00 P.M. in the DHS Auditorium Jean-Francois Millet (Zach Volheim), a young painter of genius, is in love with Marie Leroux (Torie Williams) but in debt to the villainous picture-dealer, Bastien Andre (Peter Dickey). Andre forecloses on Millet, threatening debtors' prison unless Marie marries him. Millet realizes that the only way he can pay his debts and keep Marie from marrying Andre is to die, as it is only dead painters who achieve fame and fortune. With the help of his students, Chicago, Dutchy, and O'Shaunessey (Sebastian Coco, Allie Kopp, and PJ O'Neil) Millet fakes his death and prospers, all while passing himself off as his own sister. Now a rich "widow", he must find a way to get out of his dress, return to life, and marry Marie before Marie's father, Mr. Leroux (Adrian Montoya) proposes marriage to him. Confusing and hysterical, "Is He Dead?" is sure to please! Reserved seat tickets ($8) go on sale October 2 during lunches, or by calling 303/982-2600. Door tickets are $10. By Sheri Trevanna

D’Evelyn Education Foundation’s Annual Auction, Rip-Roaring Twenties, is only a couple of months away. Plan to join us on November 10 at the Sheraton Denver West; we are planning a great evening of fun, including a happy hour, courtesy of Bierstadt Lagerhaus, a strolling buffet and entertainment. What better way to meet new friends, catch up with old friends, complete some holiday shopping, and, at the same time, help the D’Evelyn Education Foundation!
In advance of attending Rip-Roaring Twenties, we have two easy ways you can help make our Annual Auction a success: 1. Sponsorship. We are seeking sponsors for this fun-filled evening, and you can become a sponsor for as little as $125! Does your company participate in a gift-matching program? That’s an easy way to double your charitable donation! Are you a business owner? Do you know of a friend or relative looking to market their new business? Do you want to show your appreciation for our wonderful staff? 2. In-Kind Donations. The Dazzler needs donations of items for auction! Our acquisitions team has been hard at work since June collecting in-kind donations from local businesses. This is a great way to promote a product and a business! A few ideas include:
Rip-Roaring Twenties Website. We’ve made it easy to become a sponsor and to donate items. Our website contains links with detailed information about how to become a sponsor and donate in-kind items. Sponsorships and items may be left at the D’Evelyn office at any time. You can also contact Lisa Baird and the auction team at [email protected] with questions or to volunteer. We have lots to do and we’d love to make use of your special skills. Contact us! We look forward to seeing you on November 10th. Thank you for your support!
By Molly Stensland, DASH Event Director The 17th annual D’Evelyn DASH was a terrific kickoff for the school year. 27 student groups and sponsors set up activity and information booths and walkers and runners in the 5K and the 2K enjoyed a beautiful morning. Thank you to all who registered for the 5K or 2K, bought a T-shirt, donated items, volunteered, sponsored, hosted a booth, bought a raffle ticket, or gave your time or talent in any way. You made the DASH a great day! Proceeds are managed by the D’Evelyn Education Foundation and are distributed throughout the year to benefit arts, academics, activities and athletics. Check out our DASH day photo album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/53VJ3hwcec1UBmnU2 For race results go to http://my.raceresult.com/80699/ To volunteer to help with planning for the 2018 D’Evelyn DASH, please send an email to [email protected]. We are looking for volunteers to help with sponsorship, entertainment and publicity. The DASH brought in a record amount in sponsorships this year! The overwhelming majority of these sponsors have a direct connection to D’Evelyn, whether they are D’Evelyn parents, D’Evelyn alumni, or friends and family of parents at the school. These sponsorship numbers are a reflection of the immense pride we as a D’Evelyn community have for our school, students, and staff. Please support those that support our efforts at D’Evelyn! The D’Evelyn Education Foundation (DEF) has a new website. Take a look and become acquainted–or reacquainted–with your D’Evelyn Education Foundation. The DEF’s goal is to provide the financial support necessary to maintain D'Evelyn's academic, athletic, performing arts, and scholarship programs.
As a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation is able to give those who donate the benefits of a charitable contribution. DEF has no paid staff. All money raised goes directly back to support D’Evelyn students. With the help of the many volunteers and the funding of the Foundation, D'Evelyn provides not only an academic education unequaled by other public schools, but also opportunities for many diverse activities that make school exciting and interesting. Your donation to the DEF is a lasting, far-reaching gift to our community supporting your student as well as others. The approximate $80,000 annual budget supports:
Over the years, your D’Evelyn Education Foundation has also funded capital improvements to our school, such as our school security system, sound systems, library upgrades, and student furniture. To raise the financial support necessary to maintain D'Evelyn as a top college preparatory school in the United States, it takes the generosity of all of us. Please support our incredible school as much as you can, whenever you can. Our largest fundraiser is coming up soon. Our annual auction—this year themed, "Rip-Roaring Twenties"—is Friday, November 10th, 2017, at the Sheraton Denver West. Save the date. Plan to attend. Think about becoming a sponsor. Consider donating an item to the auction. All of these actions will help your student, and all of the students, at D’Evelyn. |
