National Junior Honor Society - We would like to conduct this meeting in person but because of covid, there is a chance that our meeting will be held virtually. At this meeting we would like to discuss student individual service learning projects and for the group to identify a large community organization or non-profit that they would like to donate money to this year. We are also interested in organizing a school wide community service project which we will also discuss at this meeting. Seventh Grade ICAP - The junior high counselors will be calling students down to the auditorium during 7th hour the week of February 7th - 10th to complete ICAP. Therefore we need the following items from you….
Kindness Challenge - February is typically a month when we focus on Random Acts of Kindness. Random Acts of Kindness Day will be observed this year on Thursday, the 17th of February. Consider celebrating this day by engaging in one or more random acts of kindness on the 17th. Or celebrate the week by engaging in random acts of kindness all week… let the ripple of kindness grow throughout the community. Or challenge yourself with the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation’s Kindness Challenge. They have “designed a fun kindness challenge to help make kindness the norm™ at home & in your neighborhood. Your challenge (if you choose to accept it) is to complete a series of kindness activities to fill in 60 'hearts'. Each act of kindness is worth one, two or three 'hearts' based on how challenging they are: one-heart activities are quick and easy, two-heart activities are more involved, and three-heart activities are challenging & will take more time.” Download the Challenge Kit today and have fun this month making “kindness the norm” in your neighborhood! =) For more information about the power of kindness to transform or to join RAK in making this a kinder world, visit the Random Acts of Kindness website. Sources of Strength - Sources of Strength has a fun month ahead. We plan to meet once in small groups, on the 8th of February, during 7th hour in the following spaces:
We also look forward to having a whole group meeting during 7th hour on the 22nd of February during 7th hour in the cafeteria. Our peer leaders are working hard to spread hope, health and strength throughout our community this month and every month. There are paper cranes exhibiting positive messages hidden around D’Evelyn now, waiting to be found! We also celebrate and lift up the strength of Healthy Activities on Tuesday, the 15th of February. We invite everyone to wear the color blue, which is the the color of the Healthy Activities wedge in the Sources of Strength wheel that day and engage in some healthy activity that is a strength for you! Sources of Strength will sponsor two healthy activities that day during 7th hour - a kickball game and a craft activity. Details about signing up will be provided in the announcements. =) By: Gina Writz, Counselor
