CONGRATULATIONS to the volleyball team, this is the programs' first ever State appearance! They team has worked hard all season and is definitely deserving of this success. They will play Holy Family on Friday 11/10 and Ponderosa on Saturday 11/10. If they win their pool, they will advance to the semi-final match. By Mrs. Becky Paschkey “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” ~Plato The 2017 Marching Band season was full of hard work, big victories, and loads of fun times. We practiced and performed in crazy weather including snow, wind, rain and below freezing temperatures. Our awards case has numerous new plaques and trophies including the State 2A 2nd Place trophy! We are so incredibly proud of all we have accomplished this season! Many thanks to our staff Rob Even, Abe Eng, Jason Shin, Alexandra Munoz, Jeff DesMarteau and James Lesley. We’d also like to thank our lead parent volunteers Rene and Mike Beck, Elaine Morin, and Aaron Peterson as well as the numerous other parent volunteers. Thank you to our fellow students and parents who supported us! Our season started off with a bang, as a young and talented female Freshman class (Katy Haerbig, Taylor Haerbig, Sonja Morin, Kati Livingood, Lauren Cook, Peyton Fritchie, and more) and some returning XC runners (Corin Zapico, in particular) took our team to the next level of competitiveness at meets like our very own D’Evelyn Dash (where the girls team took 2nd), the Lake County Invite (where our girls won, and we had incredible top 10 finishes on both sides of the program from the likes of the above, as well as Grant Norman), and the Liberty Bell Invitational, where girls Varsity placed 2nd overall, girls JV placed 1st overall, and Lucas Jordan took 3rd in the Varsity race.
Liberty Bell’s finishes were actually quite indicative of our season as a whole:
For our Varsity teams, the season continued on to Regionals, where our Varsity Girls earned first, and our Varsity Boys earned second, and State, where both teams placed 7th in the 3A class, with Lucas Jordan bringing in 10th place on the boys side. After 3 more weeks of training from Coach (Erik) Bell and Coach (Lisa) Porter, our Girls Varsity team and Lucas are headed to compete at Nike Cross Country Regionals in Casa Grande, Arizona in late November.
