SCREENAGERS is a documentary that explores the impact of screen technology on kids and offers solutions that work. We are excited to offer a free screening of this documentary for our community.
This year, the D’Evelyn Jr/Sr High Student Council and the entire D’Evelyn/Dennison community is working to raise $12,000 to support Make-A-Wish Colorado during our annual Wish Week, which is January 21-25, 2020. This organization works to grant wishes for children battling critical illness, like our school’s wish child, Jalen. Jalen is a nine-year-old boy battling leukemia who wishes to become an astronaut. He won the “Youth Impact Award” in the gifted and talented program for his work as an ambassador for Children’s Hospital Colorado and he is also involved in the Gifted and Talented program at his elementary school. He loves Legos and playing Minecraft and plans to become the President of the United States of America.
Through the incredible support of the D'Evelyn community, the student council raised $10,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado last year, the highest amount in school history. This year, the organization is generously allowing the entire school to meet Jalen at a DHS pep rally. If you would like to support Jalen and his dream to become an astronaut, the student council is offering several ways to do so. First of all, Jalen and his family are invited to join the school for the Sadies Pep Rally on January 24. The Student Council needs four gift cards to pay for the family’s trip to Denver from Colorado Springs: if you can donate a $150 Le Peep gift card, a $100 Chili’s card, a $100 Visa gift card for gas, or a $100 Visa gift card for their hotel room, please email Holly McCollough at [email protected] by January 15. In addition, if you would like to donate directly towards the campaign to raise $12,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado, you can donate securely online through this link: http://site.wish.org/goto/DEvelyn2020. Several teachers, staff members, and students will be shaving or dying their hair as certain monetary milestones are reached, so make sure and donate enough money to see your child’s (or your own) favorite teacher change their hair for this amazing cause! The D’Evelyn Student Council thanks you for your endless and generous support of D’Evelyn and for helping grant wishes to amazing children like Jalen! |
