We are very excited to launch our annual Wish Week fundraiser to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation! This year out Wish Kid is named Alice who is 3 years old and has a brain tumor. Her wish is to go to Disney World and we at D’Evelyn are determined to make this wish come true! Here are some of the events going on during the week of January 28th where we hope to generate as much support as possible to make Alice’s wish come true:
Please help us make Alice’s wish to go to Disney World come true by participating in the above events next week! By Keith Beams
Every year in my 8th Grade US History classes, students draw a political cartoon to represent the post-Civil War Reconstruction era. The era features political fighting between Lincoln (soon assassinated in April 1865), President Andrew Johnson, and the Radical Republicans over the fate of America. Whilst this infighting occurs, the fate of the recently freed slaves is somewhat forgotten and sidelined. The era has some successes, but much was left undone. All the students do an excellent job with the assignment. This work is the finest cartoon turned in this year, by 8th grader Mia Beinecke, and I wanted to recognize it and share it with the D’Evelyn community. |
