Juniors, just a reminder that the SAT is coming up on April 12th. If you're looking to improve your math score, Mrs. Weber is offering optional SAT review sessions. These sessions will start on Wednesday, March 1, during 7th hour and will continue every Wednesday throughout March and the first Wednesday in April. During the first session, we will review frequently missed questions by D'Evelyn students from last year. In the next two sessions, students will take a practice exam, and in the final two sessions, we will review the exam. Students can sign up on the counseling google classroom.
Save the Date, April 4, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. You will have the opportunity to see the admissions process in person. Parents, we want to make you aware of some ongoing issues we have been experiencing in the school bathrooms. There has been an increase in graffiti, including words, drawings, and carvings on the walls and bathroom stalls. This problem has been occurring most frequently in several of the girls’ bathrooms. The graffiti has been causing a lot of pressure on our custodial staff who have to regularly clean or paint over the walls or stalls. In some cases, we have had to shut down one or two bathrooms due to the frequency of the problem. We are taking this issue seriously and that is why we are reaching out to you for help. We would greatly appreciate it if you could have a conversation with your children about this issue. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Come and join us for the theater department's performance of Amélie the Musical on February 23rd and 24th at 7 pm, or on Saturday, February 25th at either 1 pm or 7 pm. The play tells the story of Amélie, an extraordinary young woman who lives a quiet life but has a lively imagination. She secretly performs small but unexpected acts of kindness that bring joy and chaos. However, when she unexpectedly finds a chance at love, Amélie realizes that she must take risks and speak from the heart to find true happiness. Be inspired by this imaginative dreamer who learns the power of connection and sees possibilities all around her. Student tickets are available for $5 and can be purchased during lunch or online. By: Suzanne Roberts, D'Evelyn Social Emotional Learning Specialist Exciting news, my friends ~ this week is Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week! And Friday, the 17th, is Random Acts of Kindness Day!
This provides us with an opportunity this week to join others who have also decided to make it an intention to be kind to themselves and others. While many of us want to be kind whenever possible, it can also be fun to join in with others who are also working toward a common goal. What we have learned over time about engaging in Random Acts of Kindness is that it greatly benefits both the giver and receiver of kindness, as well as others who may witness the kindness shared! This short video shares this and other health and well-being benefits. If you are interested in learning more about the history of Random Acts of Kindness Day, please check out the KIND Blog. Here you can learn that history and find other interesting posts about kindness. If you need some ideas for RAK Week, check out the RAK Foundation’s Kindness Ideas page. So, join us - think of something kind you can do for yourself as well as something kind you can do for those you know and those you may not know! Share a smile, hold a door, pay a compliment, or share gratitude,... Have a fun and a mutually beneficial Random Acts of Kindness Week! By: Dan Wille, Assistant Principal
Every year D’Evelyn and Jeffco Public Schools distribute surveys to families, students, and faculty in order to gather important data. This data enables the school and district to reflect on current practices, plan improvements, and implement adjustments to make continual growth for our community. Here is an overview of upcoming surveys for students and families:
Please take some time to provide feedback using the above links and help continually improve our community. Contact Assistant Principal Dan Wille with questions ([email protected]).
