It can be a game changer for those who want to know their interests, strengths and weaknesses. It is a free test and open to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Seniors: Do you know the college you will be attending in the fall or what you will be doing? Please stop by Counseling to fill out the Senior Destination Form. This information is used for the Senior Photo Montage in the main hallway. The Counseling office is requesting all copies of the scholarships that you have been offered, regardless if you are accepting the scholarship or choosing to attend the college/university. In the D’Evelyn graduation announcement we highlight the scholarships that each senior has received, and tally the total dollar amount that all D’Evelyn Seniors have been offered. Therefore we need the following items from you… 1) Proof of scholarship - please bring in the letter or documentation showing that you have been offered the scholarship. 2) Which should include the name of the scholarship, and 3) The amount that you were offered, and 4) The school or the institution that is awarding the scholarship. 5) No hand-written notes will be accepted DEF Scholarship Application Deadline Rapidly Approaching Hard copy scholarship applications must be turned in to the Counseling Office (Mrs. McSwain) by 3:00 pm on March 30th, the first Wednesday following Spring Break. All applications, resumes, essays, and supporting documentation must be typewritten! Please do NOT print double-sided when submitting your applications to Counseling. D’Evelyn Seniors will be vying for 26 scholarships worth $27,750 this year. Additionally, $6,500 in awards will be given out to three very surprised seniors (1-$1,500 and 2-$1,000 awards), and one $3,000 award to an equally surprised D’Evelyn community member. Seniors may not apply for these awards - thus the surprise - nor can D’Evelyn community members apply since the recipient is selected by nomination only, as are the three senior award winners. Scholarships and awards total $34,250 this year, the highest single-year total in the school’s history! While March 30th may seem like at least 4 more snow days and 3 delayed starts away, please note that this magical date will be upon us in just 30+ days. Now is the time for students to begin the extremely easy process of applying for the above referenced scholarships. Interested seniors should go to the homepage of the D’Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School website and click on the $ sign with the words DEF Scholarship under it, which links you to the D’Evelyn Education Foundation Scholarships and Awards. Here you will find active links for all 26 individual scholarships and the 4 awards, as well as links to four useful documents that will make life easier for those seniors completing scholarship applications. These four documents are: 1) Scholarships Synopsis – summary of each scholarship as well as eligibility requirements; 2) Scholarships Presentation – PowerPoint used on Feb 15th for a presentation to all Seniors; 3) Application Cover Sheet – one cover sheet is required regardless of the number of applications being submitted; 4) Student Checklist – listing of all 26 scholarships and the various documents that must be included. You may wonder what the chances are of your student being awarded one of the 26 scholarships this year? Consider the following: Over the last several years, between 35 and 40 seniors submitted scholarship applications. Last year, 36 seniors submitted 99 scholarship applications. There are 153 seniors at D’Evelyn this year. The chances are extremely high that your student will walk away from the Senior Banquet on May 18, (scholarships and awards will be presented) with a scholarship! But, they must apply by March 30 – NO EXCEPTIONS! Seniors may submit as many applications for which they meet the eligibility requirements (found in the Scholarships Synopsis AND the individual scholarship links). Good Luck! Comments are closed.
