Counseling Calendar
FOR ALL For the 19-20 School year: If you have a sibling of a current student to enroll via the sibling lottery, you will do this using your Jeffco Connect log in information. It will be an Enroll Jeffco link that uses your username and password that you already have for Jeffco Connect. If your new student is currently at a NON-Jeffco school, you can log in and add the new student to your current Jeffco Connect account. The Enroll Jeffco system is scheduled to roll out in January 2019 and we will keep you posted as we learn more. Please call Susan Brown at 303-982-7925 if you have questions or need assistance with your log in information. Jeffco Connect: https://jeffcoconnect.jeffco.k12.co.us/ The Jeffco Public Schools process for choice enrollment application and selection is going to change for this year’s enrollment cycle. The new system will roll out in January 2019. Once we know additional information on the new Enroll Jeffco platform that will be available throughout the district, we will communicate that information. Please call Susan Brown at 303-982-7925 if you have questions or need assistance with your Jeffco Connect log in information. We Are Looking for Candy Donations! As a counseling department we try to make our activities fun and relaxing for students at the end of the day. One of the ways we do this is by engaging them in activities and conversation with prizes to be given away. The most common and fan favorite of prizes is candy. Unfortunately, with the counseling budget candy and other treats are hard to come by. We are looking for candy bag donations for this upcoming school year. After a long day of working in the classroom we want to provide the students with a treat before they leave for the day. We would greatly appreciate any type of candy bag donation. If you can help support our program please drop any candy you have to donate off in the counseling office with Sue Brown, or any counselor available. We want to thank every single one of you for your support! College Visits We still have a few more colleges coming to town and visiting our school. Please be sure to have your students sign up and come on down. The rest of our college visits will be during 7th hour so students will not need to miss class! If you are wondering why students should attend a meeting with our college representatives, here is why:
College visits are available for all students to attend and students need to sign up for visits through Naviance. All students should know how to log on to Naviance. Below are the steps to take to register for a college visit. We want to have every 10th – 12th grade student signup for at least five college visits and every 7th-9th grade student sign up for at least one visit. How to sign up through Naviance:
SENIORS November 15th and December 1st Deadlines The next major early action/decision deadlines are coming up! For those students looking to apply early to hear back early for CU and CSU the deadlines are quickly approaching. Make sure you submit your applications, request transcripts from Naviance, and submit your test scores if your institution requires it. All of that needs to be done by those dates for you to be considered in the early action application pool. If you have any questions on how to request transcripts or submit test scores please come talk to your counselor. Submitting applications over winter break? If you are planning on submitting applications over winter break there are a few things you need to know. First, we want to make sure that you are paying attention to your deadlines. There are some institutions that have deadlines over the break in the early part of January. The counseling office will not be open over winter break, and we will not be here to send your transcripts and additional materials. If you are planning on submitting applications you will need to request your transcripts ONE WEEK before winter break begins. Our deadline for transcript requests will be on December 14th! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Scholarships Everyone wants to find a cheap way to attend college. There are a million scholarships out there and the hardest part is figuring out where to start. Counseling will be hosting a scholarship workshop for students on December 3rd. During 7th hour we will meet in the counseling office to go over where to search for scholarships, the DEF scholarships, and give students time to apply for scholarships. We will also introduce students to Going Merry. This is a non-profit organization, created by graduate students from Stanford, to help students through the scholarship process. This program is known as the common app for scholarships. They have a computer system that matches all of the students’ data to scholarships across the country. Students do not have to sign up for this program, however, we believe it will be a great resource for students when looking for scholarships. We will have four more scholarship workshops in the spring, where we will have guest speakers to help explain more about financial aid and scholarships at specific schools. Comments are closed.
