By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Congratulations to the Activities Member of the Month winners for the month of April. These winners were chosen by their Activities Sponsors based on their leadership qualities, work ethic, and other traits that represent what D’Evelyn wants to see in all of their Activities Members. They were chosen out of all the Activities Members that participate in outside-of-school events. Aimee Kennedy, 11th Grade “Aimee has always been a strong musician and asset to the D'Evelyn Music Program, but she deserves special recognition for all she has taken on since the beginning of this school year. Aimee passed her audition and was accepted into the Jeffco Honor Choir. She auditioned for All-State Choir which is quite a grueling and stressful process (we are still waiting on the results) where she performed her solo with beauty and expressivity. Aimee also jumped in to conduct the Concert Choir in our National Anthem at a pep rally when I was absent. She also had a duet with Emerson Smith at our concert during our Combined Choir's performance of "Famine Song" which was beautifully done. In addition to these, Aimee remains a quiet, hard worker who always leads by example in punctuality, rehearsal etiquette, and effort. Congratulations, Aimee! This is well deserved.” -Mr. White, Vocal Music Teacher Rayna Hylden, 12th Grade “For the Activities Member of the Month for October, the Marching Band nominates Rayna Hylden! Rayna is the Drum Major for the State Qualifying Marching Band this season. Through her leadership, we have been able to continue the tradition of excellence that the D’Evelyn Marching Band is known for. Thank you Rayna for your energy and enthusiasm through this fall season!” -Dr. Theis, Marching Band Director By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Congratulations to the Heart of D’Evelyn winners for October. The Heart of D’Evelyn Award is intended to recognize students who exemplify the core values in D’Evelyn’s Founding Document. These core values are Responsibility, Honesty, Self-Control, Kindness, and Fairness. Their teachers chose these winners based on their actions and behaviors in class, the lunchroom, and the hallways. Clayton Gustafson, 11th Grade “Clayton comes to class every day with a positive attitude. He is engaged with his teachers and friendly to his peers. His sense of humor brings a bright light to the classroom.” -Ms.Sprague, English Teacher Sophia Munnell, 8th Grade “Sophia is new to D'Evelyn 8th grader who is an outstanding role model for her peers. She is honest, responsible, kind, and caring. She is eager to do well and asks great questions in order to improve her work and deepen her understanding of what we are reading and learning. I am so grateful that she chose our school and think she is such a fabulous addition to the 8th-grade class.” -Ms. Sweney, English Teacher By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Congratulations to the Athlete of the Month winners for the month of October. These winners were chosen by their coaches based on their leadership qualities, work ethic, and other traits that represent what D’Evelyn wants to see in all of their Student-Athletes. They were chosen out of all the Student-Athletes at D’Evelyn. Doubles Team: Sean Perkes and Vince Cushnie, 12th Grade “Sean and Vince were the #1 Doubles Team for D’Evelyn this past fall and were the only seniors on our team. They were the leaders of our team on and off the court. Their leadership was a big reason for our success as a team throughout a difficult schedule. Every match they went against the other school’s top team and they did extremely well. We can’t thank Sean and Vince enough for their hard work this season”. Peyton Marvel, 11th Grade “Peyton Marvel is a Junior and plays shortstop for the lady jags softball team. She had another incredible year. She led in almost all offensive categories both for the team and league. Peyton had 49 hits, scored 49 times, 38 stolen bases, and had an amazing .605 batting average. In 95 total at-bats for the season, she only struck out 1 time. She not only is an offensive star, but her defense is spectacular saving multiple games with unbelievable catches. Peyton is a quiet leader that shows by example encouraging all of her teammates to be their best. We are so proud of her not only for her Softball play but her team spirit and leadership. Congrats Peyton!” -Coach Porreco, Head Softball Coach By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Please join us in congratulating the October Teacher of the Month, Emily McCaslin-Hahn. By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Congratulations to the Scholar of the Month winners for the month of October. They were chosen by the Math Department. Cole Schenk - 6th grade “Cole sets a great example for other students to follow. He is consistently on time and prepared for his classes. HIs work is done with neatness and detail and he follows all expectations set forth. I appreciate his laser focus and his positive attitude.” -Mr. Davis: Math Teacher Charlotte Kung, 6th grade “Charlotte is an outstanding math student who is diligent and meticulous in her work. Her quiet focus and sense of humor are great additions to our classroom environment.” -Mr. Davis: Math Teacher Sofia Cieslewicz, 11th grade “The math department is proud to recognize Sofia Cieslewicz for excellence in honors pre-calculus. Intuitive and curious, Sofia craves intellectual challenge and consistently shows her interest in understanding concepts more than simply mimicking process. Sofia is tantalized by learning and committed to mastering the most difficult concepts. I often joke that when she writes her name on a test, she should write “The Key” Cieslewicz since her answers are likely 100% correct. Congratulations Sofia!” -Ms. Cannon: Math Teacher Kieran Burton, 9th grade “Kieran’s enthusiasm and joy brings liveliness to our first-period algebra 2 class. He has achieved at a high level this year and his propensity to seek knowledge will continue to see him reach new heights. I have witnessed Kieran’s humor bring smiles to the faces of those he interacts with, and his kindness makes all feel welcome.” -Mr. Otterstetter: Math Teacher |
