By: Dan Wille, Assistant Principal D’Evelyn values the importance of a safe learning environment where all students are held to rigorous academic and behavior standards to ensure that all students succeed in our program. Our goal is to help students grow up right, and reach their full potential. As we return to full in-person learning we understand students may encounter struggles re-acclimating to the school environment. Our discipline philosophy at D’Evelyn will focus on correction instead of punishment. Our goal is to help students learn from any mistakes or misconduct in order to help them thrive as responsible, dignified, and honorable community members. We value a community approach to helping students understand expectations and become models of respect, integrity, and compassion. With this value, we strive to effectively communicate the expectations all our students are held to both in the classroom and as representatives of our proud community. For this reason, students received their Academic and Behavior contracts today to bring home, review with you, and get your signature. We believe by adhering to the expectations outlined in the contracts we can create the optimal environment conducive to child development. We hope that you spend some time with your children discussing the importance of appropriate behavior at school and academic honesty. Students are expected to return the signed contracts to their fourth period teachers by next Friday, August 27th. In addition, teachers and students reviewed the Code of Conduct and school safety during 7th Hour today. Below are links you can follow to access the Jefferson County “Emergency Situations at School” flyer which explains how we handle different types of emergencies, the “Code of Conduct and School Safety” presentation, and D’Evelyn Comprehensive Discipline Plan which we will utilize as a guide to discipline:
One specific area we are requesting help from our families is bringing attention to the D’Evelyn Dress Code. We ask that parents and students be familiar with this policy and adhere to its standards in regards to student dress at school. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s administrator. Students and families are expected to be familiar with the Jeffco Schools Code of Conduct which can be found by clicking HERE. Thank you for your support in continuing to make D’Evelyn a great school and community! Comments are closed.
