Written by: Greg Kottcamp, Assistant Principal When do students eat lunch? This year D’Evelyn will have three lunches: The first lunch period is from 10:35-11:05 The second lunch is from 11:25-11:55 The third lunch is from 12:15-12:45. Which lunch a student has depends what teacher he or she has for 2nd period on Monday and Tuesday and 5th period on Wednesday and Thursday. For example, if the students had an English teacher for 2nd period, they would have first lunch which means that they would go to lunch before going to English Class. If they had a Social Studies teacher, they would have second lunch which means that they would go to second period for 45 minutes, and then go to lunch, and then return to finish their social studies class after lunch. If a student had a science class for 2nd period, they would attend the class first for the full 90 minutes, and then go to lunch. What do students bringing lunch from home need to know? Students who bring their own lunch will need to store it in their backpack or lunch box/cooler. We do not have microwaves or hot water available this year, so lunches will need to be prepared as ready to eat at school. How do students/parents pay for meals at school? Hot lunches are free until December 31, 2020, as the USDA has funded them for the rest of 2020. There will be three entree choices to choose from each day that will be in a bag with fruit and vegetable. Students can choose another fruit and vegetable depending on grade level. Milk will also be available. Until further notice we will not be serving any hot a la Carte items such as pizza, tornados, hamburgers, etc... We will have some prepackaged a la carte items and drinks for purchasing. When students come through the line they will need to scan their student ID on the Pin Pad. Families that want to have students buy a la carte food at school can either set-up their Schoolcafe account. Parents can navigate to the Schoolcafe website through the Family Portal or going directly to https://www.schoolcafe.com/JEFFCOSD. How do the lunch lines work? Students go to the cafeteria following the directional hallways. Once they arrive at the cafeteria they will be formed into two lines that have spaces marked six feet apart. When it is their turn to order, students will need to talk clearly and loudly to Ms.Cravotta, letting her know what they would like to order. She will then ring up the item/s on the register and ask the student to scan their student ID Card. Students will be given a bag, and sent back to their assigned lunch location.
