By: Eric McCaslin-Hahn, Assistant Principal, Athletics and Activities Director Congratulations to the Scholar of the Month winners for the month of November. They were chosen by the Science Department. Tyler Feighny, 6th Grade “Tyler takes a true interest in Earth Science. He asks thoughtful questions and goes out of his way to help his peers understand. Way to go Tyler!.” -Ms. Ericson: Science Teacher Chloe Menzer, 8th Grade “Chloe Menzer is a wonderful participant in Physical Science! She volunteers to contribute to class discussions and clearly explains science concepts to classmates. She demonstrates great lab techniques, and she is a fun lab partner. She is kind to her peers and welcomes them into new friendships. Chloe, thank you for choosing D’Evelyn! -Ms. Aguiar: Science Teacher Eliza Schurter, 11th Grade “Eliza is doing a phenomenal job in chemistry this year! She comes to class each day ready to learn, and when things are difficult, she comes in to get help and ask questions. In group work and class activities Eliza is constantly working to deeply understand the material, and she asks great questions in class that help her colleagues to better understand things as well. It is not always easy, but her effort is really paying off and she is truly succeeding in chemistry! -Ms. McGee: Science Teacher Paul Dawson, 9th Grade “Paul enters the classroom with a positive attitude, prepared to conquer any content put before him; I don’t think that Paul has ever come to class not prepared for the day’s lesson or lab. Paul consistently answers questions posed in class, sometimes going “out on a limb” and not knowing he has the correct answer, which keeps the ideas flowing in the discussion. Paul genuinely wants to learn and works hard to figure things out on his own, but is proactive in asking for clarification if he does not understand a concept. All of Paul’s academic strengths combined with his sense of humor and overall “good guy” demeanor make him a great student to have in the classroom!” -Mr. Ray: Science Teacher Comments are closed.
